HIRING EVENT: 

Join us Monday, April 13th 2026 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. ESS is hiring substitutes to work in Little Rock School District! No experience and no college required. During the meeting you will receive assistance with the ESS application, Arkansas background check process, and a brief substitute training. We can take your fingerprints on site during the meeting. If possible, please pay the fee for the fingerprints prior to the meeting.

An ESS substitute teacher assists with classroom instruction in the absence of a regular teacher. This person follows and teaches lesson plans, aids students in understanding subject matter, and ensures that regular classroom routines are followed.


Responsibilities

  • Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent
  • Review and implement regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
  • Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
  • Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration
  • Perform other duties as directed by school administration

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • AR/FBI Criminal History Clearance
  • Department of Human Services Child Maltreatment Central Registry Clearance
