Permanent Occupational Therapist


An ESS Permanent Occupational Therapist provides administrative and other support to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the office or department and promotes a safe and orderly environment for students.


Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Manager of Therapy Services, this position is responsible for

planning and implementing specific treatment programs for individual

patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy

  • The Occupational Therapist (OT) collaborates with the interdisciplinary team

and provides supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • (COTA) and the Occupational Therapy Aide (OT Aide)
  • Provide therapy treatment to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent

disability primarily to outpatient adult neurological and a few outpatient

pediatric patients

  • Designs the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of

treatment

  • Monitors and modifies the plan of care as needed
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and

provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive

equipment and support programs

  • Coordinates patient schedule with team members, readily and effectively

adjusts schedule to meet changes in census, staffing, patient needs, space

constraints

  • Student advisement
  • Maintains and monitors daily patient schedule, demonstrating initiative to

confer with therapists for schedule changes and to make non-clinical

prioritization judgments

  • Independently demonstrates awareness of patient treatment needs

program

  • Must be able to use a smart phone
  • Must be able to learn an EMR
  • Clinical experience required, 3 to 5 years is preferred
  • Supervisory experience required, 3 to 5 years is preferred
