Van Aide BCIU
ESS Van Aides are responsible for ensuring the safe transport of students by implementing students' IEP requirements and behavior plans. This individual must assist students in and out of the vehicle, car seats, and specialized securements. This individual also must assist drivers and learn the run to help with substitution.
Responsibilities:
• Load and unload students as required
• Be knowledgeable of the unique needs of students with special needs
• Assist in evacuation drills and other emergencies
• Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents
• Operate special equipment - including special equipment including special car seats and
• safety equipment
• Learn the route to direct a substitute who may be asked to drive the run
• Observe the students to keep them safe in their seat
• Attend all required trainings as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation
• Address child safety and behavioral concerns while the vehicle is in motion
• Follow the policies and procedures outlined in the Bucks County Transportation Manual

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED
• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a record of safe driving
• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance
• Child Abuse Clearance
• FBI Fingerprinting
• School Health Form: Physical and Tuberculosis Test
• Pennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification
• Clean DMV Record
